Pete Neighbour Quartet
Event Description
To kick off the 2024 Charleston Jazz Festival, jazz clarinetist Pete Neighbour presents his unique Swing-Era Jazz for the 21st Century! Originally from London, England, Pete now calls Charleston home and has traveled extensively, performing at New York’s Lincoln Center, the Royal Festival Hall in London, the Cannes Film Festival, and various venues in New Orleans, Paris, Singapore, and Sidney. Pete’s early playing years were heavily influenced by the ‘Swing Era’ of the 1930s and 40s, especially that of Benny Goodman, whom he still holds in great esteem. Today, Pete’s style still encompasses that of Benny and his contemporaries but is much enhanced by other clarinet greats such as Buddy de Franco, Tony Scott, and Eddie Daniels. The Charleston Jazz Festival is sponsored in part by MUSC
